Kohui
lives and works in Seoul, KR
Kohui explores relationships shaped through sound, with a focus on the act of sensing it. Observing natural phenomena, forms, methods, and the structures of today’s technologies, he designs algorithms that generate relationships between the predictable and the unpredictable. He reconfigures these relationships to expand ways of sensing sound, building his perspective on nature, the human, and sound.
He has presented audiovisual performances at WeSA Festival, ACT Festival, SICMF, MUTEK Montreal, and MUTEK X INSCAPE and exhibited in group shows at the National Asia Culture Center, Seoul Museum of Art, Platform-L, and Dialog(). He was selected as a HYUNDAI ZER01NE Creator in 2022 and co-founded the artist collective TAKA. He has served as an adjunct professor at the Korea National University of Arts.
고휘는 소리를 감각하는 행위를 중심으로, 소리로 연결되는 관계를 탐구한다. 자연 현상과 형태, 방식, 그리고 오늘날의 기술 구조를 관찰하며 알고리즘을 설계하고, 예측 가능성과 예측 불가능성 사이에서 관계를 만들어낸다. 그는 관계를 재구성하며 소리를 감각하는 방식을 확장하고, 자연, 인간, 소리에 대한 관점을 구축한다.
고휘는 ACT Festival, WeSA Festival, Unfold X 2025, ISEA 2025, MUTEK Montreal, Tokyo 등 국내외에서 오디오비주얼 퍼포먼스를 선보였으며, 서울시립미술관, 국립아시아문화전당, 플랫폼엘 등 다수의 그룹전에 참여했다. 2022년 현대 ZER01NE 크리에이터로 선정되었고, 2024년 아티스트 콜렉티브 TAKA를 설립했다. 또한 그는 한국예술종합학교 겸임교수로 역임한 바가 있다.
